Auction, Raffle and Taste of Local Cuisine
July 18

The three top winners of the Museum of Aviation Foundation Raffle held July 12, 2014 came by the Museum of Aviation Tuesday July 15 to collect their winnings. The first place winners were Steve and Kristy Sylvester from Warner Robins, Georgia who chose to take the $30,000 cash. Senior Airman Randall Evans, a 116th Air Control Wing member and his wife Lia who live in Warner Robins, won the second place drawing for $3,000 and the third place $1,000 prize went to Chris Brown from Kathleen, Georgia.

The drawings were held at the end of a lively Auction and Raffle and Taste of Cuisine July 12 in the Museum of Aviation’s Century of Flight Hangar. A total of 410 items donated from merchants and individuals were auctioned off and 33 restaurants and caterers provided their signature dishes to an estimated 1,000 attendees. More than 1,200 raffle tickets were sold.

The event was the 29th annual Auction and Raffle put on by the Museum of Aviation Foundation. Steve Davison, owner of Clean Control in Warner Robins, has been the volunteer Chairman of the event for the last 14 years. He was assisted by Jimmy Autry, Vice Chairman; Margaret Cox, raffle ticket chairman; and many other volunteers who procured items, sold tickets and helped set up the event. The top ticket seller was Dr. Dan Callahan who sold more than 150 tickets. The event is the second largest fund-raiser put on each year to benefit the Museum of Aviation.

Some of the items auctioned off included a fancy chicken coop, a rare bottle of whiskey, a sky box suite for Mercer University basketball, a trip to Wyoming, a Falcons jersey signed by former linebacker Buddy Curry, furs and jewelry and a framed U.S. flag donated by Colonel Murray and Sharon Hansen which was flown over the 70th Anniversary of D-Day commemoration in France.
