MUSEUM FOUNDATION AUCTION, RAFFLE & TASTE OF LOCAL CUISINE
SATURDAY, JULY 17, 2010
Chairman, Steve Davison

A large crowd turned out at the Museum of Aviation Saturday night, July 18, to enjoy the 24th Annual Museum of Aviation Foundation Auction, Raffle and Taste of Local Cuisine. The event brought in $247,914 in cash income and in-kind donations - the largest amount of any auction and raffle since they began 24 years ago. The Century of Flight Hangar was filled with nearly 400 items up for bid in a silent auction and live auction and attendees were treated to free signature dishes from 30 restaurants and caterers. Most stayed until the 41 items in the live auction were sold to hear who won the new car or truck -- or $20,000. The winning ticket belonged to James and Florence Tingerthal of Warner Robins who opted to take the $20,000 cash and Frank Roberts of Dunwoody, Georgia won the second prize of $2,000 cash and Frank Freeman of Warner Robins won the $500 third prize.
"We had a great event thanks to the generosity of hundreds of businesses and individuals who donated items, sold tickets and worked hard to set up the event," said Museum of Aviation Foundation President Pat Bartness. "All the money we raised goes back into making the Museum of Aviation one of the top aviation museums in the country. We're very proud to be able to help this Museum grow and offer education programs to over 42,000 children each year."
An energetic auction and raffle committee was headed up by Chairman Steve Davison, Raffle Chair Rick Drury and Co-Chairs Brian Grady, Shirley O'Neill, Linda Shingler and Tim Dupree. The Museum Foundation presented Recognition Plaques to Steve Davison and Brad and Gina Fink recognizing their many years of outstanding support to the annual event. Live auctioneer Bo Benton received assistance again this year from WMAZ-TV anchor Frank Malloy who did his famous "leap onto the mattress" for the crowd of bidders. Stillwater band member Sebie Lacy and Chuck Shaheen also assisted the fast-moving sale of auction items which included furniture, trips, a guitar autographed by Brad Paisley and Dierks Bently, and African Safari, tickets to the Gator Bowl, and lunch with Governor Purdue.
