Here are few articles and picture blogs that I have found interesting over the past few days, enjoy the pictures and reading!

Inspired by publications like Life Magazine (of old), National Geographic, and online experiences like MSNBC.com’s Picture Stories galleries and Brian Storm’s MediaStorm, The Big Picture is intended to highlight high-quality, amazing imagery – with a focus on current events, lesser-known stories and, well, just about anything that comes across the wire that looks really interesting.” [1] I highly recommend bookmarking The Big Picture if you have not already done so. The stories told there are always interesting. Pictures tell such a great story when compared to text alone. Taylor often focuses on events in history or current military operations. Although December 7th was more than a week ago, these pictures are very powerful. Follow this link to view all of them.
The Frame is another photo blog, this one from the Sacramento Bee website and posted by their Assistant Director of Multimedia, Tim Reese. Often images of war focus solely on the death and destruction wrought by it. The images of the end of a deployment are in many ways just as powerful. The looks of joy, confusion and uncertainty are easy to see on these soldiers faces. The story told here through pictures is even more interesting because these soldiers are from nearby; the 1st Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division based at Fort Stewart, GA. World War I Victory Medal
The remains of a veteran of World War I was recently identified and repatriated. Pvt. Henry A. Weikel was killed on Sept. 16, 1918 near Jaulny, France and was buried December 9th in Annville, PA.[2] Read the full story here.
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xq92ZC5cYoM]The worlds first civilian owned MIG-29 made its first flight on December 10th of this year. The most amazing thing about this story is that it flew right here in the United States. This is simply amazing. Read the article here (from 2005) to get some background on how Air USA obtained two MIG-29s. This is an incredible story. For some perspective, the MIG-29 is comparable to the U.S.A.F. F-15 Eagle.
