The Middle Georgia Model Railroad Club will kick off the holiday season with large miniature train displays set-up at the Museum during Thanksgiving week, November 19-27, Closed Thanksgiving Day. Eagle Building Rotunda

The “Planes and Trains” exhibit is open free to the public.

The Eagle Building Rotunda is the site of large operating layouts and other railroad-related exhibits. Additional trains switching at modeled industrial sites.

  • The club has a large N-scale layout which features a 1950’s drive in theater.
  • There is also an O-scale Lionel layout where railroad cars experience “hot box” fires, a Christmas Village (on 30 scale),
  • a Thomas the Tank Engine layout on Sodor Island, a modern train on the World’s Greatest Hobby layout,
  • and a large G-scale floor display.

The Museum “Planes and Trains” display will have exhibits from the Southeastern Railroad Museum, Operation Lifesaver, and others.


There will be a commercial vendors with trains and train related items available for sale on November 21st, 22nd, 25th, 26th, and 27th.

The Middle Georgia Model Railroad Club has been around since the 1970s and currently has about 30 members. The Club holds a public meeting at the IHOP restaurant, 2710 Watson Boulevard, Warner Robins on the third Tuesday of every month and invites anyone interested in learning about model railroading to come to the meeting.
