If officials at the Museum of Aviation get their wish, you won’t recognize the facility in five to ten years.
Major changes are on the drawing board to transform the 51-acre site into a more exciting, hands-on flight and technology center with indoor dioramas depicting scenes from World War II, the Korean War, Vietnam, the Cold War, and Desert Storm and beyond. Many civilian aircraft will also be featured in the Georgia Aviation Hall of Fame exhibit and education center.
A $30 million capital fund raising campaign has begun called “Century 2000, the Next Generation.” Museum officials hope to add three new hangars and a new aircraft restoration facility to better protect and work on the valuable historic aircraft in the Museum’s collection.
