The year’s most exciting social event – the Museum of Aviation Foundation Annual Auction and Raffle - will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2008. The evening features a silent and live auction, a Taste of Local Cuisine and a chance to win $20,000 or a new car or truck!
Last year the 22nd Annual Auction and Raffle set a record gross income of over $240,000. The Century of Flight Hangar was filled with over 430 silent and live auction items donated from businesses and individuals in Middle Georgia. The live auction included 39 high-end items like getaway weekends, furniture, a Jon boat, an autographed aircraft model, fur coats, jewelry, and a dinner with Govenor Sonny Perdue. Free food from 27 restaurants and caterers was also offered in the Taste of Local Cuisine. The event featured a raffle with a chance to win $20,000 or one of five new vehicles, a 47-inch LCD Vizio Gallevia liquid crystal HDTV, and an 80BG Apple iPod with hi-fi sound system. Two special awards were presented to Lee Roy and Natalie Claxton and Herbert Phillips of Phillips Furniture for their years of dedicated service to the Auction. The 2007 committee was headed up by Auction Chairman Steve Davison, Co-Chairman Jimmy Autry, Raffle Chairman Rick Drury, Set-up and Decorations Chairperson Mary Beth Owen, and Nichols Cauley and Associates who worked hard to make the event an overwhelming success.
This year's event will again feature a raffle to win one of five new vehicles from local car dealers. For a $50 ticket, entrants will get a chance at the drawing which also includes high-end 2nd and 3rd place prizes. Only 2,000 raffle tickets will be sold.
