We the People

In October of 1996, a 45-person "We The People" Theater and Exhibit Hall opened at the Museum’s Century of Flight Hangar. Visitors are treated at no charge to an inspiring audio-visual presentation on the history of the United States Constitution, the making of laws and the role of several prominent Georgians in assuring a strong national defense.

The Constitutional provision for the "common defense" of the United States is featured through the voting issues, historical film footage, and a unique presentation on seven Georgians of national prominence:

  • Congressman Carl Vinson
  • Senator Richard B. Russell
  • Senator Walter F. George
  • Senator Herman Talmadge
  • President Jimmy Carter
  • U.N. Ambassador Andrew Young
  • Senator Sam Nunn

Senator Sam Nunn Exhibit
To especially honor Senator Sam Nunn's significant contributions to U.S. military forces and national defense, the theater hall features exhibits with memorabilia related to the Senator's personal and political life.

  • During the film segments concerning Senator Nunn, the exhibited items are spotlighted for visitor enjoyment and may be viewed again at the end of the program.
  • Adjacent to the theater hall is a Georgia granite bust of Senator Nunn and a recreation of Senator Nunn's private Senate Office in Washington DC with many authentic artifacts.

The theater and exhibit hall are free to the public and open daily from 9am to 5pm.
