WARNER ROBINS, Ga.– Over 1,000 people laced up their sneakers for a good cause on Saturday morning. The 21st Annual Museum of Aviation Foundation Marathon hosted a marathon, half-marathon and 5K. The three races were run on the Robins Air Force Base. CEO and President of the Aviation Museum Foundation, Chrissy Miner said this event is extremely important. She said the money raised at this event will be donated to good causes. The money will be used for the restoration and continuation of the Aviation Museum and for the STEM programs that take place there.
“What you see all around you is STEM in action everyday, you see the engineering and the math that put together these weapon systems that fly, fight and win for us in the United States military, so it’s a phenomenal cause and a great time,” said Miner.
Over 52,000 students and teachers have participated in the Aviation Museum’s STEM programs from Pre-K through twelfth grade.
Runners in Saturday’s marathon and half-marathon had the opportunity to qualify for the Boston Marathon. Trophies were handed out to the top three men and women in each race, the top active duty military man and woman and a trophy for the relay team
